Frequently Asked Questions
Can surface profiles be painted to match my wall colour?
Standard anodised profiles (silver, black, white, gold) cannot be painted effectively as paint does not adhere well to anodised aluminium. However, we stock profiles in powder-coated RAL colours to order, and white-anodised profiles are often a close match to standard wall whites. For exact colour matching, custom powder-coat is available with a 2–3 week lead time.
What is the minimum bend radius for corner installations?
Surface profiles use rigid aluminium extrusions that cannot be bent — corners are handled with 30°, 45° or 90° die-cast connector pieces, or with mitre-cut joins. For curved surfaces, we use flexible LED channel solutions with a minimum bend radius of approximately 50mm depending on the channel width.
Can the LED strips inside surface profiles be replaced?
Yes — surface profiles are designed for LED strip access. The diffuser clips out, the LED strip slides out from the channel and a replacement strip slides in. This makes future LED upgrades (higher efficiency, different colour temperature) straightforward without replacing the profile itself.
What is the difference between surface and recessed profiles for under-cabinet lighting?
Under-cabinet surface profiles sit proud of the cabinet base by their full height (typically 8–14mm) — visible when you look up at the cabinet underside. Recessed under-cabinet profiles sit in a routed groove in the cabinet base for a flush finish. Surface profiles are faster and cheaper to install; recessed profiles give a more refined result. We advise on the right approach for each project.
