An illuminated stretch ceiling works by suspending a translucent PVC membrane across a perimeter track system, with an array of LED strips or panels installed above the membrane in the void between the membrane and the structural ceiling. Light passes through the membrane uniformly, creating the appearance of a seamlessly glowing luminous surface with no visible light sources, no shadows and no hot spots.

How do you access the LEDs above the stretch ceiling for maintenance?
The membrane can be released from its harpoon track at any point using a specialist tool, then re-tensioned after maintenance. We always design an access panel into the perimeter or a discreet re-entry point in larger ceilings. LED lifetimes of 50,000+ hours mean maintenance is very rarely needed in practice.
Can the illuminated ceiling be dimmed and integrated with smart home systems?
Yes. All our illuminated stretch ceiling systems include dimmable LED drivers that work with standard 0–10V, DALI or smart home control systems. Full integration with Alexa, Google Home and app-based controls is available, allowing scene programming, scheduling and voice control.
What is the minimum room height for an illuminated stretch ceiling?
The minimum ceiling height is approximately 2.4m. The stretch ceiling void (space for LED array and track) requires 80–120mm, so the finished ceiling plane sits 80–120mm below the structural ceiling. In rooms with 2.6m+ height, this is comfortable. We assess during a site visit.
Can illuminated stretch ceilings be used in bathrooms?
Yes, using IP54-rated LED strips within the void and appropriate membrane materials rated for humid environments. We have installed illuminated ceilings in luxury bathrooms and spa areas throughout Odisha. All installations are certified safe for Zone 2 bathroom locations.
